Collared Sparrowhawk: Scanners on Full Alert
Collared Sparrowhawk, Accipiter cirrhocephalus
Been hearing her warning calls for a couple of weeks. High pine trees make for an impossible task to spot the nest.
As we walked past the other morning, she shot out of a clump of leaves, took a small bird (guess- sparrow or Yellow-rumped Thornbill) Flew back into the trees, and a few seconds later re-emerged to land in the open and began scanning for more.
Satisfied it had a prey it flew to the other side of the pines and we lost it from sight.
To all my wonderful Flickr followers, thanks for your support this past year.
I'm off for a week to recharge the batteries, clean up the accumulating mess of my photos database and take some time away from screen.
Be back next week raring to go.
