Spotted Cucumber Beetle (Diabrotica undecimpunctata)

This view was taken at the same time as one of my previous photos from 2009. The earlier photo (see below - it's clickable for a closer view) was captured a few seconds after this one when the beetle, upon seeing me, attempted to burrow deeper into the rose petals, and I moved in even closer still trying to photograph him. The rose blossom was hanging down, and the sun was shining through from behind. The lucky result - some of the most interesting light and hues I think I've ever captured.
