This Gulf Fritillary butterfly (Agraulis vanillae) was atop a very tall golden zinnia blossom which I snuck up under. I didn't want a regular horizontal butterfly-flower shot. This zinnia was so tall, I wanted to try to get some kind of an upward POV shot, since I like to try to capture unusual views. Also, I wanted to capture the sunlight coming through the golden petals.
Every now and then I'd slowly stand up and try to see where he was... see photo in first comment below. Finally his curiosity got the best of him, and he peeked over the side to see who was there. Snap!
