Nimoy, Shatner, Ellison in front of set

    Newer Older

An entertaining autographed shot from 1966 of Leonard Nimoy, William Shatner, both in costume, and Harlan Ellison between them, the science fiction author who wrote the original version of the TOS script The City on the Edge of Forever. In the background are some typical TOS planet rocks and the hut that was used in the filming of Mudd's Women.

I always thought the weather vane on top of the hut was cool.

Harlan before his ego went OUT OF CONTROL.

      Look at that smug look.

Wonder why he was on this set? Not an episode he wrote or co-wrote?

Harlan Ellison has ALWAYS had an ego. He wrote a great script for "The City on the Edge of Forever," but it wasn't Star Trek. Some changes had to be made to make the story fit the show's established continuity. And more than forty years later, he's still kvetching about how they butchered his script.

      Ellison's a short little shrimp, isn't he?
Maybe that's why he has such a Napoleon complex.

He's brilliant, writes so utterly well, it's unreal, and is a whiner extraordinaire. His capacity to insult anyone at the drop of a pen is unmatched- except perhaps by Denebian slime worts,
