    A suited Kirk in an underexposed shot. This image was used to superimpose his ghost like appearances aboard the Enterprise after he and the Defiant dissolve into the alternate universe. A common technique in TOS special effects, an underexposed image in a darkened sutdio was then optically superimposed in space or over another image to partially or entirely materialize. This shot, and the suits, were from the TOS episode The Tholian Web.

      Great episode..I wrote a short story based on Kirk's point of view.

      I only wish they had done some better lock off shots so that it seemed as though Spock was on the same plane with him. As the effect is in the episode, Kirk either seems to change size, or float in to where Spock is staring. In other words, he doesn't seem to be where Spock is looking, which kind of mars an otherwise eerie shot.
