Wow! This is really blue... So nice. I like all the forms and patterns. I see on the left and the right two persons. Although they look more like babooshka's (those wooden Russia puzzles) than like normal humans ;-)

There are birds in there, I promise--at least eight of them. Look at the larger versions and you'll see.

    Connected in the Connect pool.

There are four in each of the white side sections. Turkish tilework is a lot less strict about physical forms than, for example, Moorish or Moroccan building decoration. Consider the Persian miniatures: also Islamic art. :-)

Hold on, I will post a version with the birds circled. In the meantime, there are also four-legged animals at the bottom of the same panels, if that helps convince you.

    Corrected :)

Persians are the most liberal for Islamic art, I remember turks are not far behind - though the majority of Islamic artwork is of orthodox nature where animals are only depicted through calligraphy not a whole form.

That's my understanding as well. :-)

Here are the birds circled, for anyone else who wants help finding them.

Oh, and Karamk helpfully added a note (why didn't I think of that?) so I added the others. My favorite is the second from the top--it has its shoulders hunched up in a wonderfully naturalistic way!

the guys at the bottom look like foxes or hyenas.
