Preparing African Leafy Vegetables, Kyanika Women's Group, Kitui
The Kyanika Women's Group in Kitui, who worked closely with Bioversity International as part of a project to reintroduce African leafy vegetables to the local community.
An important part of this project was creating market demand for traditional foods which had fallen out of fashion with local people. Note the use of traditional gourds as pots for the vegetables. This women's group started a bottle gourd museum to preserve the gourd diversity in this area.
