Salon du Chocolat, Paris, 2017
On 30 October, the 18 International Cocoa Award winners were celebrated at the Salon du Chocolat, Paris, shining the international spotlight on the work of cocoa farmers, and the diversity of cocoa around the world.
This initiative, spearheaded by Bioversity International and the Salon du Chocolat, rewards producers of high-quality cocoa, and aims to facilitate collaboration between producers and chocolate makers and expose the diversity and richness of cocoa.
Earlier this year, 166 samples were submitted from 40 countries through the Cocoa of Excellence Programme –
the entry point for the Awards. These samples were evaluated by an expert independent panel. Then the 50 best samples were chosen and nominated for an International Cocoa Award - winners were announced at the Salon du Chocolat, in Paris, in the presence of representatives and farmers.
