Skipjacks ruled the bay. The Watermen were the heroes of the day. The Crabbers up at dawn to tend their pots, the Oystermen headed out to tong for oysters. When the bay was fresh and the bounty was available to all who were willing to seize the day.
See this lighthouse and 11 other lighthouses during the 8th Maryland Lighthouse Challenge on September 17th and 18th 2011, as The Chesapeake Chapter of the US Lighthouse Society, The Calvert Marine Museum, The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, Fort Washington National Park, The Friends of Concord Point, Piney Point Museum and Historic Park, Point Lookout Lighthouse Preservation Society, Point Lookout State Park, Sandy Point State Park, St. Clement's Hundred and St. Clement's Island Museum, Turkey Point Light Station Inc. and the USS Constellation Historic Historic Ships Museum Open their Lighthouses to viewing by the public.
