Doesn't every bike ;-)? Seriously, though it's a Grant Petersonian argument, a steel fork would be bent and not broken.

Holy crap! I hit one a couple years ago, but that is insane.

Actually, I think it's this guy
    www.chainreaction.com/squirrels.htm

(look halfway down) This guy broke a METAL fork with a squirrel!! Steel can snap as easily ( if not easier) than composite. Anyways, hard to say if composite is tougher than cromoly for impact failures (as opposed to fatigue) , all I can say is I don't want to be the test subject for that one!

A friend had a squirrel run into his wheel back in the late 90's - he had the bladed Spinergy wheels and the squirrel got shredded. My friend took a hard fall at 20+ MPH and broke his collarbone.

With a standard wheelset it wouldn't have gone this bad. Smaller gaps on 32H wheels make it harder if not impossible to get through.

    That squirrel got bone-tragered!

I'm amazed that the fork snapped before the spokes.

At least we know that the spokes are nice and strong.

Does your warranty cover squirrel attacks?

Did the squirrel survive? I/ve seen them make it through some pretty tough scraps.

Ron: "Forwarded to me on an email list. I don't know where or when this occurred." But that squirrel looks pretty immobile to me.

Wow! That must have been rather intense. Did the rider fall? What did you end up doing with the squirrel?

@Altitude: Sorry - don't know: "Forwarded to me on an email list. I don't know where or when this occurred."

B.S. the spokes would have broken. Those don't even look bent.

I think someone's been stuffing squirrel.

There are other photos of this incident. The rider got injured, but not as badly as the rodent.
