    Carey's the USA Marketing Coordinator for Raleigh Bicycles. She's riding a sweet looking track bike in this photo. This photo is *not* by me.

      She also has an older Raleigh converted to SS; plans to get a Rush Hour soon, she says!

      No helmet?

      No brakes on that fixie, either.

      Helmets are for dangerous activities, Josh. Stuff like riding in a car, which has about 3x the risk for brain trauma than relatively safe activities like riding a bike. ;-)

      @rather: I thought he shirt was cool too. Reminds me of stuff I wore in the 80s.

      I know this is an old photo, but I would like to comment that she does in fact have a brake; it's mounted perpendicular to the handlebars (parallel to the fork), and you can see the calipers in the very bottom of the photo.

      Helmets may not be necessary, but putting front brakes on a fixie will always be, unless you happen to ride for MASH or Macaframa.

      @jgobbell - Ah, I see that now.
