Texas State Flag

    Newer Older

The Lone Star flag was adopted on January 24, 1839 as the national flag of the Republic of Texas. It was later adopted as the state flag when Texas became the 28th state in 1845.

The blue stands for loyalty, the white stands for purity, and the red stands for bravery.

The Texas state bird is the mockingbird. The state flower is the bluebonnet. The state tree is the pecan.

Just thought I'd wave the Lone Star flag today.

Carol - it is so nice to learn of these things. And your flag is so striking - nice to see it flying so proudly.

If the state tree is the pecan -- does that mean that YOU'RE the state NUT??

Thank you! I'll be here all week!
