La vie en rose

    Newer Older

We visited Blenheim Palace gardens on Sunday. They have the most sublime rose garden ever. It is so very beautiful and the perfume is divine. We are going to return for a second visit as we didn't manage to see all that we wanted to - they have afterall got over 2000 acres of parkland!! We didn't even attempt to go in the house, but then again I am not that keen on traipsing around stately home interiors. I can highly recommend it if you are ever in the area (approximately 4 miles from Oxford)

Now I feel like eating my grandma's rose jelly... :-)
I love climbing roses but care little for the shrub variety. The first photo, with the lavender border is to die for.

WOW. I mean - WWWWOOOOWWW. I know that English gardens are the best but this is beyond the best! Beautiful treatment too. Pity flickr can't transmit the fragrance of this place!

It's a gorgeous place to roam around isn't it? You have done the rose garden proud. Lovely treatment and image. BTW did you know that all residents of Bladon (just outside Woodstock) get a free for life pass to the Palace? Lucky lot.

This seems to be a great, romantic place. Ideal for lovers. Jane Austen must have written her stories in a garden like this...

Re: tinted (tainted) flowers.......We do have some of that but most commonly on St. Patrick's Day. Green dye everywhere.

Oh wow, what a beautiful display of roses! I didn't know Blenheim had such a rose garden! This is where they shot Brideshead Revisisted, right? I bet it smelled wonderfully too!

This is very beautiful Astrida. It looks like a scene from Wysteria Lane (Desperate Housewifes).

How very pretty and such a wonderful display of roses and flowers. Looks like you had a fabulous time.
