An opened flower of the Wild Arum.

This Wild Arum (Arum maculatum) belongs to the family of the Araceae. This is an opened flower to show the pollination mechanism. Insects land at the spadix which is waxed and slide down inthe the lower flower part. They cant ge out at first since the hairs block trhe "entrance". If the flowers are pollinated, the hais degenerate and the insects can start to fly to anohter flower and pollinate it. Aronstab
