The "Haunted House" at Westward Ho! UK
This is a house that will probably disappear one dark and stormy night! Some of us locals call it the haunted house. I believe somebody still lives in it. Following information found on the web from 5 years ago:
"Seafield House, formerly a very grand holiday residence built in the 19th C by a London Banker Brinsley de Courcey Nixon, now stands sentinel a mysterious reminder, with the site of the long-abandoned Bideford Appledore and Westward Ho! Railway railway close by, of former times and former grandure. The House now stands battered by the elements, vandalised by man and seemingly neglected. Shingles, tiles and wood appear to have been removed by scavengers over the years and as a result of all of this the house has decayed.
The House was sold and used as a B & B in the early 1950's and descendants of those owners are said to live near-by and can sometimes be seen trying to work in the garden. There is also evidence of attempts at repair and renovation... ladders, scaffolding and even, ironically, a security light, but nothing ever seems to get finished or be properly organized."
