The seven-spot ladybird is the most common ladybird in Europe. Its elytra are of a red colour, but punctuated with three black spots each, with one further spot being spread over the junction of the two, making a total of seven spots.
Because they are useful, colourful, and harmless to humans, coccinellids are typically considered appealing even by people who hate most insects. Some people consider seeing them or having them land on one's body to be a sign of good luck to come.
Feels good to be back on Flickr now after a hectic summer. Have been too tired to Flickr but hopefully that will pass soon... I guess it will take a couple of days to catch up with you...=) Hope you have had a great summer!!
