Lebec & Gorman Moon & Hills before Nightfall

Larger & full versions on Eyeography.

I was driving from Irvine, Orange County, CA to Pleasant Hill, Bay Area, CA. I was hungry. And the mp3 cd I had burnt for the trip wasn’t working. So I decided to use my laptop on the passenger seat to listen to the cd. It would run for a while, maybe an hour or two. So I stopped at the Gorman exit in Lebec to enjoy the cold weather and then to maybe eat something, and start Winamp on my laptop. There was a Carl's Jr to my right, when I took this picture.

I love how the hills and the moon looks. We always talk about different places where there is good scenery, yet such hills are not only in our backyards, but all around us. And at the same time, we love talking about metaphors and imagination, without actually doing anything. All we need to do is to go to them and have them come to us too.

It was very cold when I took this picture, and I did not have a jacket on. The mere thought of the cold weather, this picture, the drive, life, and some yummy food on its way made me realize that the jacket can be avoided for as long as possible.

Thanks for looking! :)

Ooo this is an awesome picture! I love the blue sky against the brown hill and the moon placement is cool. Did you know that the moon will be it's fullest and brightest for the year 2009; tonight?

    Hey Jessica, :)

Thanks for the comment! It's nice to see you think this pic is awesome too.

Hmm, no, 0_0, I didn't know that the moon will be the biggest and baddest tonight. Thanks for letting me know! Will you go out and take pics? Now I'm wondering if I should hmmmm.
  • Jessica 6y

I went out to look at it and it was insanely bright. I could see everything and there were even shadows of stuff which was pretty weird. But it wasn't big when I saw it. I didn't take any pictures because none of my cameras have a zoom that would've just been a picture of a white dot, lol. Did you get to see it?
  • Bes Z 6y

Interesting, I see. :) Would be so cool to see those shadows and spots!

I did go out [to Subway], though I didn't take pictures and forgot to look at the moon. lol. I looked at the moon tonight and it looks full, though it doesn't look that big I think.
  • Jessica 6y

lol, yeah it's not so big today....but when I saw it it was yellowish with some clouds around it....oooooo. I wish I had fancy camera gear to take pictures of the moon and stuff but alas...I don't....oh well!
  • Jessica 6y

Here, check out this picture to see how big it was! :)

I don't have a fancy camera either, hmmm, or is it as fancy as we think of them to be? :) You already take great pics so maybe you have a fancier camera than mine [yes you do].

Thanks for the link. It does look very interesting!
  • Jessica 6y

Good point, the camera is only as good as the person behind it!

The camera I use the most is not fancy, it malfunctions always changes selections on it's own and it doesn't let me look at pictures I just took a lot of the time. :\

I do have a 35mm SLR camera though...I consider that one my fancy one cuz I look more official with it. :)
  • Bes Z 6y

Heh! Is the camera you use the most the one you took the last several pictures with? My previous canon started producing 3 red dots in most of the pictures, & lately I'm using a Nikon.

If you could buy a new camera, which one would you get, or what type?

What kind of a 35mm do you have? Yesm those cameras do make you look professionaler (my new trademarked word!) than the unfortunately-stereotypically called p&s cameras.
  • Jessica 6y

Yeah, pretty much all of my pictures are from my digital one. I only use my film one if I am going somewhere to specifically take pictures...I don't carry it around with me, since it is so bulky.

Well I am planning on getting a new camera at some point, the one I have now is a Sony....I refuse to get Kodak because they are garbage in my opinion :) I was thinking about getting a Nikon. It'd be between another Sony or a Nikon.

My film camera is a Canon Rebel T2.
  • Bes Z 6y

    That's awesome! :) Will you be getting a dslr or a p&s?

Is this the one you have? Looks awesome!

I think have never tried a Kodak...
  • Jessica 6y

Yes that is it! Except for the fact that I can't see my pictures right away...I love it! But it's good to be back to doing film it was in the old days like 10 years ago, haha.

I'll be getting a p&s, I can't afford to spend the money on a dslr, plus I am not majoring in photography so I don't really need one. My film one does basically the same things...just it's not digital. But I'm fine with that.

I've have I think 3 different Kodak cameras, and they all broke. I have really bad luck with electronics, I buy the protection plans on everything because I do end up using it pretty much every time. And it's not that I am reckless or I throw stuff around...stuff just malfunctions and breaks on it's own. Like when I bought my laptop years ago...I went through 4 in about 2 months time! lol, it's kinda ridiculous.

this picture is excellent but the description of where you took it and why makes it a million times better. for me anyway.

if i was from So-Cal I would say this is rad. but im not. so if i said that it would be a bit dumb. in England one might say this picture was ace. or top.
    or lush.
