Bill Clinton - yes, I took this photo
I stood for four hours to see our former president Bill Clinton speak in Kirwood, MO. I wasn't able to get a seat, but we stood only about 10 yards from the podium. The very tallest guy in the building was standing right in front of me. Initially, I grumbled about his being in my line of sight. Later, I discovered that he was just perfect at blocking the bright lights that otherwise would have made some horrible light flare on the photos. As it turned out, Bill Clinton looks like he was lit in a portrait studio with a "hair light".
William Jefferson (Bill) Clinton spoke for 50 minutes without notes or a prompter. His grasp of the issues, and his ability to communicate have always impressed me, whether I've agreed with him or not. In his speech, he was making the case for now President-Elect Obama. One of the things he was most impressed by Barak Obama was how Mr. Obama seeks out and listens to a wide variety of views before making up his mind. Further, that Mr. Obama was not interested in his concerns about the political impact of Bill's advice. Rather, he just wanted to know "the right thing to do".
I was delighted to get a couple of dozen quite good portrait shots. I may have to do a composite of "the various moods and expressions of Bill Clinton".
