Oaks Bottom Restoration Project (2018)
Portland, Oregon - A major restoration project in summer 2018 to bring salmon back to Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge and benefit other wildlife: The project's centerpiece is a large new culvert under the Springwater Corridor trail - a salmon subway - that allows young salmon to access the refuge from the Willamette River for the first time in about a century. The project also restores habitat and creates healthy water flow through the refuge to benefit the many bird, mammal and other species that use the refuge.
