Night Watch Over Longs Peak
The constellation Orion "The Hunter" (or at least his bottom half) appears to stand guard over Longs Peak in this view from Allenspark, Colorado. I really liked how this shot showed that just a little bit of light from distant cities of Loveland, Longmont, and Boulder are enough to illuminate the peaks.
To get this image, I rented a Nikon D700 with a full-frame sensor. I've been very interested in seeing what the low light sensitivity of this camera could do for my darker night shots and this was one of my chances to use it. And I think at night is where the full-frame sensor really shines.
I've really enjoyed my research on the "dark side" and hope you like the results.
