Optimus Primus 71L...

Preheating the burner involves warming the tank with your hands, opening the fuel valve and letting gasoline dribble out of the jet and down into a depression on the top of the tank. This is then lit, and the flame warms the burner and jet up as well as pressurizes the fuel tank (expanding air inside, which is why the tank should never be completely full of gas). Once the flame starts to burn down the fuel valve is reopened and the burner should light itself.

Primus was a Swedish manufacturer of camp stoves. The rights to their product line were bought up by competitor Optimus, which went on to produce stove under the Primus trademark. Has nothing to do with Transformers.
