It's a slippery slope, this camping thing
Llywn Celyn Bach campsite at Llanberis is at the top of the steepest road known to man. In fact, with my bike carrying a full camping load I had to push my bike most of the way up the hill. The campsite also has the steepest fields I've ever dared sleep on. My camera was level when I took this photograph, and this was the most level bit of the field that was left.
This was also the last time I saw sunshine. Snowdonia had three solid days of gale force wind and rain, which left me cold, damp and miserable and put an end to my plan to cycle south to Pendine Sands. The hopeful-looking dry stone wall offered no shelter to the relentless easterly wind.
On the upside, my Wild Country Zephyros 2XL Lite tent handled the wind like a trooper, and after an early morning trip to Joe Brown's outdoors shop I now have waterproof covers for my Arkel panniers. I'm beginning to look like an advertisement for Exped though.
