Silky Anteater in the Mangroves of Damas Island

Yes, the Silky Anteater also called the Pygmy Anteaters is one of the most difficult interesting animals to find. It is found from Belize and Southern Mexico through Central America and the Amazon. But no where is it easy to find because it sleeps during the day, and it's FREAKIN' TINY. It's the smallest species of anteater in the world with a total length ranging from 360 to 450 millimetres (14 to 18 in) and usually weighing less than 400 grams (14 oz)

But more importantly, it's an animal I've been wanting to see for SO LONG and only one tour in the world pretty much guarantees you a sighting, especially during the dry season. As of right now I have seen all 3 species of Central American anteaters - Giant, Lesser (or collared) and now, the silky or pygmy anteater.
