The McDonald's Japan "Texas Burger": Not Quite As Advertised / 話が違う

See Part 2: New York Burger, here.

It goes without saying that the advertised version is the one shown inset at the bottom right. Here in Japan there is a Japanese burger chain called "Mos Burger" whose burgers actually turn out the same as they look on their menus. I don't think it is too much to ask for.

Usually, when a Japanese company wants to indirectly admit that a pictured product may differ from the actual one, they add a disclaimer such as "写真はイメージです。" ("Picture for illustrative purposes only.") McDonald's does no such thing.

drormiler, who commented below, put me on to the Breakfast Scene from the movie "Falling Down" in which the main character also deals with this problem: www.youtube.com/watch?v=-eREiQhBDIk

Paul. I think if the false advertisement claim really worked they would have been out of business a long time ago. You probably have to prove the unprovable "malicious intent to deceive" or something like that.

    You get what you pay:))

spooky67: True, you get what you pay for... still, I find this more disappointing than funny. I find all of macdonald's disappointing. Carl's Jr. is waaay better.
Still, homemade burgers are soooo much better, and they're not really expensive :)
I like the picture colors and bokeh :)

    ughhhh, tasty goodness...
  • Ben Torode 5y

spooky67: Yes but this one and the other four in this campaign have a "premium" price. In hindsight I'd take any of the cheaper burgers on their menu over this one.

Yiskaholina , I'm sorry I didn't find this funny I would be more than disappointed if I had paid for this, I know this may sound strange but I have only ever eaten One yes one Mcdonald burger and was sick an experience never to be repeated. I dont think we have Carl's Jr in Scotland but if they come I will try them.
Trode, I take your point a premium price for this burnt offering in unacceptable did you ever get a refund??? you might like to ask them to put some real cheese on it instead of processed chemicals. Good Luck

I alway look what kind of burgers is waiting in the bin and order something other and order fries without salt. I get always fresh stuff :)

ew. haha. i've been boycotting mcdonalds for two years now. :)

Another thing I'd like to mention about McDonald's in Japan — although every restaurant offers separate bins for plastics and paper, depending on the municipality the collected rubbish is later put into the same bags. Whether or not that same rubbish is later separated, the fact is that customers may be wasting their time separating garbage for nothing.

LOL I live in Texas and THAT'S no "Texas Burger!"
  • Ben Torode 5y

steve: Then you may enjoy the TV commercial for it. Does that music have anything at all to do with Texas??
