I took this picture a few days ago at the European Parliament in Brussels. I met Louis Michel during an important debate between representatives of the Braives village (lead by Pol Guillaume, Mayor of Braives) and several Eurodeputies. The meeting was meant to improve the relationship between local entities in Belgium (especially Braives) and European institutions. This is actually something really new that might have huge repercussions for many little cities in Europe.
Louis Michel is a Belgian Member of the European Parliament (eurodeputy). Before that, he served as European Commissioner for Development and Humanitarian Aid until July 2009. A prominent member of the French-speaking liberal party, the Mouvement Réformateur, he was Belgium's Foreign Minister until July 2004.
