A section of tallgrass prairie that wasn't destroyed by cultivation exists in the Flint Hills of Kansas. The U.S. Park Service now oversees the area. While the grass was short this time of year (mid-June), there were still some wildflowers (mostly coreopsis). The vast expanse of the prairie is calming.
