I drove over the Pitt River bridge and the light to the north was very nice. When I got to the other side I quickly found a place to park the car and started to hike back to the bridge. Of course, the nice light I saw driving over began to disappear behind clouds to the south. I had to stand on the bridge for about 45 minutes in a cool breeze until it returned. There was a channel of late afternoon light rolling up the east bank of the river, which lit up select parts of the image along its path.

The shot is a hand held 5 image HDR processed using Photomatix Pro 4 and Lightroom 3. I probably could have packed my tripod up the bridge, but its valuel would have been questionable as the bridge was constantly vibrating and the bridge deck was flowing back and forth in waves.

Strange as it may seem, the current was flowing up river as the tide was coming in when this shot was taken.
