Food for thought...
...and many thoughts for a Flickr friend; this one is for you, dear Juca.
On Flickr one meets many people; artists, poets, photographers, musicians, activists, humanists, thinkers, journalists, dreamers, realists, pessimists, warriors, optimists..., etc., etc., etc.
Gratefully, most of us are usually positive towards others in this incredible online community and most of us enjoy giving and receiving feedback to and from each other.
If we just stop for a second look or dig a little deeper, we discover there are many images on Flickr that offer plenty of food for thought; much more so than the mere eye can see, hiding some reality or sentiment just waiting to be discovered.
Some people leave a simple “Wow!”, whilst others write a book on the subject. I suppose that’s what makes us humans unique; we are each one different and have our individual ways of interpreting realities or sentiments beyond our own. Our attitudes towards each other are a reflection of our personalities and I’m sure many friendships have already been formed through this equally unique community.
In some cases our comments awaken and cultivate a desire to develop new friendships, to discover the real people behind the screen as it were. I have already done so and have not been disheartened with my discovery. I know of others who have done the same. What a fantastic accomplishment for an online community!
So, dear Juca, I hope one day we will have the chance to meet in person, to exchange our many joys and sorrows, our frustrations and our expectations for a country that in so many ways gives us so much food for thought and yet offers so little to those who hunger for a more just and equal society.
I’m sure we will accomplish all in the end.
