Lake Kanayama
Photo of the week 33
After my car broke, I decided I wanted to try cycling to the lake in town. Of course, going by bicycle meant that I was not there during the golden hours or even during great shooting conditions. I had the bright, overhead light of mid-afternoon.
I decided to try and take some landscape shots that took into consideration some of the critiques of my last landscape shot.
I got home and was quite sad about the very flat colors I had in my camera from the timing of my shot (mid-day).
I've been chatting with a friend about various photo things and decided I was going to learn how to do some basic photo editing in GIMP (I can't afford photoshop). I spotted a suggestion on one of my recent photo reads about looking up (photo editor) +photography +tutorials on youtube. I decided to try and see what I got.
I found these two:
1 - www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTIBx_JZ3po
2 - www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKxi0kgC5oQ
After watching them, I experimented with color editing and the mid-day flat colors are no longer a problem. This photo is significantly closer to what I actually saw when I was out taking photos
What do you think? What would you have done differently?
