140/i365: "My children grew up in there"
Taken today in the Aina Haina shopping center parking lot. They tore down the old McDonald's today. Sifu and I stopped to take pictures. A few people were watching and taking photos as well. The man in the black shirt on the right was also taking pictures. After a while, he began to walk away, and as he passed us, he said, "My children grew up in there..."
Even though I don't personally remember this particular McDonalds from my own childhood, it's still sad to see long-standing places go. Memories inside them... displaced from their physical home. Sifu remembers this McDonalds from his small-kid time days, so I imagine it was nostalgic and sad for him, like it was for the man in the black shirt, and other adults who stood watching quietly.
You can see the old McDonald's sign off to the very right. I wonder if it will be torn down as well, or allowed to stay?
Here are some pictures I took about a month ago of this McDonalds before it was demolished, and the new McDonalds that was constructed right next to it: www.flickr.com/photos/beatjoan9/5669296942/
