...born on the 4th of July...
I'm guessing these five Eastern Bluebird nestlings hatched yesterday because of the activity of the parents that I observed.
So here they are...another round of five little ones for the parents to feed constantly for the next two weeks or so when they will fledge.
I'm very concerned about the heat wave we've been having, though...and today it's getting even warmer.
It felt like 98°F (36°C) while I was checking on them late this morning. Hopefully the extended forecast for cooler temps will be a relief for the babies and their parents.
The first brood fledged on May 25th, so the two broods will basically be two months apart in age by the time this brood leaves the box...I'm predicting around July 22nd.
Here is my photo from June 17th when there was only one egg in the box: flic.kr/p/2gfCSzP
I know they look ugly, but I'm still excited to see them. :)
