T. S. Eliot
T. S. Eliot was another of Sweeney's long-time correspondents and cherished literary figures. From 1957-1963, the two maintained their friendship, documented in the Humanities Series Director's Records, including an exchange of Christmas cards. Even after Eliot's death, Sweeney remained in contact with the poet's widow, Vivienne Elliot. Every year, Father Sweeney ordered yellow roses to be sent to her on the anniversary of the poet's death.
