Glendalough Monochrome

We had mostly good weather for myself Allison & Steve's trip around Wicklow, but when we arrived in Glendalough there were some seriously angry looking clouds blocking out the sun. Thankfully it stayed dry.

Here we see St. Kevin's Church from a bridge across the river. If you want to find out about the hostory of this amazing place, there's a detailed Wikipedia article.

I quite like the colour version of this shot, but it does look distincly HDR-ish, which some people really hate. I think this monochrome rendering is probably a lot more pleasing to a lot more people.

This shot was generated by tonemappign a single RAW image in Photomatix Pro, then tweaking the resulting image using the Topaz Adjust 4 plugin in PSE8, tweaking it a little more in Aperture's Dodge & Burn plugin before finally converting to monochrome using the Monochrome Mixer brick in Aperture.

This shot featured on my blog as Photo of the Week 134 to 141 - Allison & Steve Visit Ireland.
