Lord Chancellors and Monarchs' arms, Peers' Chamber
The Coats of Arms of the Lord Chancellors of England with the monarch's shields in approximate date order. These were selected by a herald and painted in the mid to late19th century below the side galleries in the House of Lords Chamber. They are on oak panels which have dried out and split in some cases.
The set may be incomplete and caution should be exercised as not all the arms may be accurate.
The camera flash has yellowed the photos so argent sometimes appears to be or. This has been made worse by the yellowing of the white paint in the 150 years since they were painted.
