Fort Fisher State Historic Site - September 2011
These pictures are of the Fort Fisher State Historic Site in Kure Beach, North Carolina. Fort Fisher was a Confederate stronghold throughout much of the Civil War, protecting the blockade runners who brought supplies to the Confederacy. The fort protected the entrance to the Cape Fear River and Wilmington, North Carolina. These pictures were taken in September 2011.
