Montgomery, Alabama -a photo essay
These pictures are from a trip I made to Alabama in July 2011. Montgomery served as the original capital of the Confederacy until it was moved to Richmond, Virginia in May 1861. Jefferson F. Davis, first Confederate president, was inaugurated on the steps of the Alabama state capital.

Beside visiting the state capital building, I also stopped by Greenwood Cemetery and historic Oakwood Cemetery. Many Confederate soldiers and officers are buried in these two cemeteries. At Oakwood Cemetery, I met Phillip Taunton. Mr. Taunton guided me around many of the significant graves at the cemetery. Many thanks to him for graciously providing me so much time.
