Saria

"Saria will always be. . . Your friend."

A medium-sized sculpture of the quirky green-haired Kokiri Forest girl Saria, from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo 64. I built this model gradually over the course of a few days.

As you can see in my video link, what's unusual about this particular model is that it's built mainly upside-down using the irregular SNOT (studs not on top) method. Saria's head mainly faces downwards, and uses Technic pins to have her hair and headband facing upwards with the bottoms of the LEGO pieces butted up against each other. Saria's torso and legs also face downwards, and the chest and back are held into place with modified bricks. Her neck and collar are held into place with a thin bar which slides into a stack of round bricks which is positioned into her torso.

I started with the head and face, and based my designs off DOU Moko's LEGO anime characters:

I ran into many issues with this creation overall, such as the proper hair design, problems with the SNOT method, lack of dark green pieces in my collection, and her eyebrow design. Not to mention making her body look somewhat realistic -- since although she's supposed to be a child in the game (and thus doesn't have an adult woman's contours), I still gave her a feminine physique instead of making her look flat or square. It's also due to my lack of dark green pieces why her arms look so flimsy and wonky.
