This is Courtney. She's currently training to be a makeup artist, and you can probably see from her own makeup that she already knows her stuff well!
It was a beautiful day and I was hoping to see someone whose look would work with this background with purple lights. I thought maybe someone blonde would work to complement the colours, but when I spotted Courtney with her purple hair and amazing face I knew I had my subject. She was walking along Oxford Street, with her arm linked with her equally striking mum - I thought they were friends or maybe sisters at first! When I pitched my idea, Courtney's mum joked "OK, as long as you don't mug us in that alleyway!"
I took some relaxed, smiling shots of Courtney first, but then noticed this little hint of a smile in one shot and asked her to turn her head slightly and do the same again. I knew I had my shot then.
I think this is one of my favourite shots in the series to date, everything came together really well (even the light, which is all natural, no reflector even!). Thank you Courtney and to your mum as well! :)
