"The beauty of the morning; silent, bare"

Louise Bourgeois sculpture at Tate Modern, framing St Paul's Cathedral on the north bank of the Thames

Picture selected by the Tate galleries as one of a number of images from flickr used by the Tate to celebrate 10 Years of the Tate Modern in May 2010. There are many other versions of this picture on flickr and elsewhere - the framing and dwarfing of the dome of St Paul's by the body and legs of the spider is irresistible - if anything makes this one any different from the others it is the complete absence of any people in the foreground or on the Millennium Bridge, only achieved by getting up very early on a Sunday morning.
