"This Place Matters," West Side Walking Tour with City Neighbors Charter School

On Saturday, February 12, Baltimore Heritage offered a walking tour of the West Side and the Superblock to the students of City Neighbors Charter School. The students and their teacher Mr. Peter French organized a protest following the tour to oppose the proposed demolition of Read's Drug Store, the site of Baltimore's first successful student-led sit-in back in January 1955. For more on the protest see coverage from WJZ, the Baltimore Sun, and Baltimore Brew.

Visit the Baltimore Heritage website for more information on the West Side and the proposal to demolish 14 of 17 contributing historic buildings on the "Superblock."
