The Honeycrisp apple was produced from a 1960 cross of Macoun and Honeygold, as part of the University of Minnesota apple breeding program.

Honeycrisp™ apples feature exceptionally crisp and juicy texture, sub-acid and mildly aromatic flavor, and excellent storage life.

Honeycrisp™ apple trees have demonstrated good hardiness under normal winter conditions in east central Minnesota.
