The Hallicrafters AM Alarm Clock

    Newer Older

Made in Canada 1957 Hallicrafter 56C46 Tabletop Alarm AM Radio with coffee pot turn on... not recommended. NOTE clock displays day of week spelled out in full. Unusual. Date is also displayed @ 12 position. Of course the obligatory CD - Civil Defense insignias are on the dial. Duck & Cover... remember that? I do. The knobs had cracked in half. I had to fix and re-enforce them with clear dental acrylic heat-cured in a pressure pot in my dental lab. Note my 1950's fiberglass lamp reflecting off the clock's face. All my digital pics lately taken with my Minolta G500.
Flash and natural light mix @ 1/20th hand-held set to Incandescent lighting plus B+3,G-3,R-3 - addendum: This particular pic has NO Flash fill because a warm feel was wanted in addition to not having the lamp's reflection swamped out by the flash.

Don't laugh or call them boatanchors, many of those Old Hallicrafters HAM radios are still in use today, and may more served well beyond the date of their manufacture.
