A Blue Great Dane Named Butler

    Newer Older

Butler was one of the two, yes two, winners from a draw that was held at the Alberta Kennel Club summer show (where my lovely tent was destroyed by a storm on the last evening, boo hoo). At 150 lbs he's the largest dog I've photographed in the studio (time for a bigger studio).

I've been asked before to reintroduce colour into a b&w images. Since I don't do that many I don't get asked that often. That being said, I had to give it a try with Butler. He's got the same colour as Siegfried, one of my daycare clients, and I thought I'd play around a bit to see what could be brought out.

Maybe I'm getting tired of the red wall. Maybe I just need to play around a little. Either way, here you go.

Thanks. I may be wanting to stretch my legs regarding the red wall but I haven't come close to being tired of that fabulous ring light.

mizzcreation - 5D Mark II and the 50mm f/1.4. You can always (or almost always) see what camera and settings I use in the "Additional Information" field on the lower right.

Very nice pic Brian. Butler might be the same colour as Siegfried but he's over double his size :).

I love what you've done with the eyes. It totally makes the photo... I love love the soft, almost beadiness, of the collar.
