The first upload on my Kenya series.

I never cease to be astounded by the Wonders of the World. Peering through my window on the 'plane journey home, first I saw the bone dry Savannah, then the Sahara Desert, above which floated clouds full of sand, that the wind had spiralled upwards into the atmosphere. A little while later, I was looking down on the snow covered Alps, then the patchwork and very green fields of England.

Kilimanjaro is without doubt one of the wonders of this world, rearing up to almost twenty thousand feet from the plains below. To my INTENSE chagrin, she stayed cloud covered for a whole day of the two we stayed in Amboseli !! When the mountain did clear, a sight that will stay in my mind for the rest of my life ! Landscape shots were a rarity in Kenya, with the intense overhead sun combined with the sky full of dust from the constantly spiralling dirt-devils.

The last two rainy seasons have failed, and I hope and pray that they receive some rain soon, both human beings and animals are suffering. Crops are failing, animals cannot find enough water.Sadly not an unusual occurence in Kenya.

To be honest, the first few days, we did not enjoy being there. Then we fell in Love with the place, and cannot WAIT to go back. The people were absolutely wonderful, we met some truly colourful and fascinating people - and as is always the case when we have travelled to Africa, a happy bunch who seem to thrive on so little.

So my first image is probably a typical and cliched shot, the required Elephants combined with Kilimanjaro, from Amboseli.

There was a bit of a wait for these wonderful creatures to walk into the scene, and the mountain kept clouding over, plus we had to be back inside the lodge gates before 6.30 pm, so I was gritting my teeth , not wanting to lose the shot ! NO WAY is

photography a relaxing game !! LOL !!

I hope you enjoy this, it is so lovely to be able to share my images of a great holiday with you all !
