Project:1837 - The Upper Canada Rebellion

The Upper Canada Rebellion was the culmination of the problems being faced by the Radical group within the greater Reform Movement. Between the 4th of December and the 18th of December, 1837 two separate Rebellions one in Toronto and one in the London area attempted to take control of the Provincial Government, separate from the British Empire and declare Canada a Republic. Both failed. Today the Northern Ontario building sits on the site of Doel's Brewery where the first meeting of the Rebels was held to get the ball rolling on what would become the Upper Canada Rebellion.
