Charles Banks, U.S. Civil War Veteran

Charles Banks enlisted as a 19 year old in Company K, 1st Maine Cavalry, in January, 1864 along with a number of other York citizens, among them Albert Moulton and William Henry Woodward.

Charles, one of 10 children in the household of John and Olive Banks, was a farm laborer at the time of his enlistment. John Banks was a farmer and one assumes that Charles worked for his father on the family farm located on what is now known as Long Sands Road.
