Our children's ‘In Celebration!’ concert was held in the presence of His Worshipful The Mayor of Gateshead, Councillor Jack Graham and celebrated some of the best young musical talent in the North East. Winners from this year's Avison Ensemble Young Musicians' Awards performed and were joined by the Gateshead Youth Orchestra (conducted by John Treherne MBE) and the Gateshead Wind Band ‘Notability’ (conducted by David Milner). www.g-y-o.org.uk

The concert included the presentation of the 2014 Young Musicians' Awards by The Mayor of Gateshead. The engraved glass awards were created by the North East glass artist Dominic Fonde and are inscribed with music from the Avison workbooks. These are displayed in the winners' schools for a year. The Awards were founded in 2006 and this year's Awards and concert have been supported by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation. www.esmeefairbairn.org.uk
