Those people in the front row look concerned that her trip down the stairs in heels and those billowy front-&-back cape things isn't going to end well!

Did these ads run in "general interest" magazines, or were they targeted at womens'/fashion magazines?

Both. This one is from February 1956 Harper's Bazaar (a fashion magazine), the red 1956 Sixty Special ad is from May 12th 1956 Saturday Night (a Canadian general interest magazine), and the blue and white Eldorados ad is from August 1956 Holiday (a general interest magazine).

I don't think they look concerned. I think they look as if they're hoping for a "trip down the stairs"...

So somebody can say "Have a good trip?"

That thing hanging in front may have been a very early GM experiment in airbags!

The redhead has dug her stlilleto into the train.

      "Any second now!", she's thinking.

It's good that we can have fun with these old ads. Gotta keep the sense of humor, right?

Sometimes humor is all we have left... ;-))
