Louis O. Normandin, DeSoto-Plymouth, San Jose CA

This photo was probably taken in early 1942. I can see a few 1942 models on the lot, but the showroom is filled with appliances for sale. This was common during World War II as new cars were not produced from early 1942 to mid-1945. They switched from DeSoto to Chrysler in 1957 and remained at this site until 1969. Still in business today as Normandin's Inc. Chrysler-Jeep at a different location, run by, I believe, 4th generation Normandins!

Hi, I'm an admin for a group called DeSoto Automobiles / USA: 1929 - 1961, and we'd love to have this added to the group!

Own a 1972 Dodge Royale Monaco which I bought used from someone. The plate frame was from Normandin Chrysler, Plymouth.

Yup, they're still around, as I said in my description of this photo. I bought several vehicles from them when I lived in San Jose and found them to be very honest people to do business with.

Thanks for sharing this photo. I am drooling at old cars from 40's! Thanks for the description part, too!
