1956 Fairey Delta FD.2

In March 1956 this high-speed research aircraft was the first to fly a world record speed of over 1000 mph. and held that record for over a year.

Both Deltas built are still around, one at RAF Cosford and the other at the Fleet Air Arm Museum in Yeovilton.
